Hi, I’m Mike. Australian in California. Three daughters (ages 3, 8, and 10), one wife, one good dog .

By day I build AI learning products for 45 million kids. At home, I’m figuring out how to help my own girls thrive in a world shaped by AI. Most of what I write comes from that tension—the gap between what works at scale and what works at the kitchen table.

Now

ClassDojo — 5+ years on the exec team. We build products used by 45M kids monthly. I’ve owned revenue growth, launched new product lines, and now lead our AI efforts. Lucky to work somewhere aligned with what I care about most.

New Literacies — My answer to a question that kept nagging me: what do kids actually need to thrive in a world shaped by AI? I’ve published 80K+ words of research on 8 core capabilities, built a market map of 140+ products, and I’m testing everything with my own kids. It’s become the work I’m most proud of.

Angel investing — 20+ early-stage investments, mostly AI and marketplaces. I back outsiders with global ambition, and only when I can be unusually helpful.

Also: Learning piano at 40. Ride bikes long distances. Love skiing—and working to get my girls hooked too, so they’ll still holiday with me when I’m old. More here .

Previously: I started as a consultant (McKinsey), founded a startup (RecruitLoop , exited modestly), worked at Lyft, and co-founded Antipodes to help foreign founders break into the US.

New Literacies (Newsletter)

If you’re a parent, educator, or builder thinking about how AI is reshaping childhood—this is where I share what I’m learning.

It’s part research synthesis, part field notes from my own experiments. 80K words of deep dives. A curated market map. Observations from shipping AI products to millions of kids, and from testing ideas with three very opinionated girls.

I send it when I have something worth sharing—usually a few times a month.
